Neb Ra the Pharaoh was a ruler of ancient Egypt during the Fifth Dynasty. A time of political stability and cultural flourishing. He came to power in 2494 BC and ruled for about 27 years. During which time he oversaw the construction of several major monuments and projects.

One of Neb Ra’s main accomplishments was the construction of the Step Pyramid at Saqqara. Which was the first successful attempt at building a pyramid in Egypt. The Step Pyramid was a departure from the traditional smooth-sided pyramids of earlier pharaohs. Featured a series of stepped platforms connected by ramps. This innovative design allowed for a more efficient construction process and reduced the amount of stone needed to build the pyramid.

Neb Ra also oversaw the construction of several other major monuments and projects during his reign. He built a new palace at Memphis, which was one of the largest and most elaborate palaces of its time. He also expanded the temple complex at Karnak and added several new chapels and statues. In addition, he sponsored expeditions to Punt, a land located on the African coast, to secure trade routes and obtain valuable resources such as incense and ivory.

Neb Ra was known for his religious devotion and his efforts to promote the worship of the Egyptian gods. He built several temples and monuments dedicated to the gods. Including the Temple of Horus at Edfu and the Temple of Amun at Karnak. He also sponsored the construction of several large statues of himself. Including one at Karnak that stood over 10 meters tall.
