Drinks in Ancient Egypt

Drinks were an important part of daily life in Ancient Egypt . There were many different types of beverages. Here are some of the most common drinks in Ancient Egypt: 1. Beer: Beer was the most popular drink in Ancient Egypt. It was from barley. It was for religious purposes as well as for daily consumption.

2. Wine: Wine was also popular in Ancient Egypt.  It was  from grapes that grows in the Nile Valley. Wine was consumed by the wealthy . It was  for religious ceremonies as well. 3. Milk: Milk was an essential part of the Egyptian diet. It was consumed by people of all ages. Milk was mostly  as a part of meals. Which was also to make cheese and butter. 4. Water: Water was the most important drink in Ancient Egypt. Despite the fact that the Nile River was a source of water for the Egyptians. It was still unsafe to drink due to the high level of bacteria and parasites in it. 5. Juice: Fruit juices were also consumed in Ancient Egypt. They were  from a variety of fruits such as pomegranates, grapes, and figs.

Apart from these drinks, the Ancient Egyptians also consumed a variety of herbal teas made from plants such as chamomile and hibiscus. The Ancient Egyptians also invented a type of alcoholic drink called “shtook.”
